Rivals Brighton and Crystal Palace lock horns in the Premier League on Sunday in the first M23 derby of the season.
The clash between the Seagulls and the Eagles will take place at the Amex Stadium, kicking off at 2pm (UK time). The game will be televised on Sky Sports Premier League and Main Event.
Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh will be hoping to start after the Gambian netted in the 2-2 draw at Leicester, but he may have to be content with a place on the bench.
Brighton (4-2-3-1): Verbruggen; Lapmptey, Van Hecke, Dunk, Estupinan; Baleba, Ayari; Rutter, Joao Pedro, Mitoma; Ferguson.
Palace boss Oliver Glasner may elect to keep faith with the same starting line-up that earned a 2-2 draw against Premier League champions Manchester City last week.
Crystal Palace (3-4-3): Henderson; Chalobah, Lacroix, Guehi; Munoz, Hughes, Lerma, Mitchell; Sarr, Mateta, Eze.
Adam Webster is out for the Seagulls with a thigh injury and he is not expected to feature until the New Year, but there appears to be hope on the horizon for a number of his colleagues.
Manager Fabian Hurzeler has said most will not be available here but his hand should be strengthened for a busy Christmas
The manager said Jack Hinshelwood (knee) has a 40% chance of facing the Eagles, which is more likely than either Ferdi Kadioglu (ankle) or James Milner (thigh) being involved.
Solly March has returned to training and should feature at some point over the next few weeks, while Joel Veltman will face a fitness test before Sunday’s showdown.
As far as Palace are concerned, Matheus Franca’s groin injury will not clear up in time for him to be involved in December matches, while there has been no update on Rob Holding’s availability after a falling out with Glasner.
Joel Ward is rated as doubtful with a calf issue, while Adam Wharton’s groin issue has improved enough for him to be considered for a place in the squad for the Amex Stadium trip.
This is a game that means more to these respective fans than any other, and it is Brighton who have held the upper hand in their recent meetings.
Crystal Palace have not won any of their last six games against the Seagulls and suffered a 4-1 loss when they last visited the Amex Stadium in February, so they will feel they are overdue a success against their rivals.
Palace have had a sticky start after an excellent end to the previous campaign and they have suffered from failing to turn draws into wins.
Glasner’s team have drawn four of their last six matches, including against champions Manchester City in their most recent outing, but they should be confident after winning their last away game at Ipswich.
Meanwhile, Brighton look well placed for a push for Europe and will feel entitled to be firm favourites to put one over the Eagles again after being unbeaten in their seven home league games.
