Olivier Boscagli has had to wait at Brighton, but after a solid turn at Burnley he is set for consecutive Premier League starts for the first time at Tottenham next weekend. It will be Spurs’ first home match under Brighton’s former head coach Roberto De Zerbi, with Albion pushing for Europe after a 2-0 win.
The Frenchman deputised for skipper Lewis Dunk, who began a two-match suspension for 10 bookings, alongside Jan Paul van Hecke. “You come to the to the best league in the world, so you know that it’s not going to be easy. I’m still really happy with the move I made.” He told The Athletic.
“So now the only thing I can do is to work and try to compete with them.”
It was only his sixth Premier League start. The 28-year-old joined on a free from PSV last summer and has appeared in nine of 32 league games, three as a substitute.
He played 43 times for PSV last season and featured in 30 of 34 league matches as they retained the Eredivisie by a point from Ajax.
Asked about going on loan, with 22-year-old Diego Coppola leaving for Paris FC in January, Boscagli said: “It helped me a lot, but I was happy to make this move, I’m still happy with the move I made, and that didn’t come into my mind for a minute”.
