Wycombe Wanderers star Anis Mehmeti is seemingly heading on his way to Championship side Bristol City, with the two clubs agreeing a fee for the 22-year-old’s services.
That is according to Mike McGrath of The Telegraph, who writes that the midfielder will undergo a medical with the Robins on deadline day ahead of completing his switch to Ashton Gate.
Mehmeti, who is an Albania youth international, came through the youth ranks at Norwich City, having spent time with Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur prior to his Carrow Road graduation, but after just two years with the Canaries he dropped into non-league with ninth-tier Woodford Town.
Wycombe soon snapped up Mehmeti in 2020, initially for their B team, but was immediately featuring in the Championship for the Chairboys but they were ultimately relegated at the end of the 2020-21 season, with Mehmeti notching three goals.

Seven goals and four assists were bagged in League One last season for Mehmeti as Wycombe made the play-off final, and this season has been even better from a personal standpoint with nine goals and four assists in all competitions.
Mehmeti looks to have played his final match for Wycombe though as City look to re-invest some of the money they have made on Antoine Semenyo with a creative midfielder who can play through the middle or out wide.
The Verdict
As far as Semenyo replacements go for the left-hand side of an attacking midfield three, which is how City are playing currently, then you won’t get many more exciting ones in England than Mehmeti.
Nigel Pearson has delved into League One for other players in recent times, and in Mehmeti he will be acquiring a player who is very technical, loves to dribble at a full-back and can most importantly score goals.
There are suggestions that Mehmeti has a release clause of around £1 million at Adams Park, and if that’s the kind of fee that is being spent then it could end up being a bargain if the attacking midfielder continues to shine.
Pearson is building the nucleus of a young, talented side with the likes of Alex Scott, Sam Bell and Tommy Conway in the first-team, and Mehmeti is the latest exciting figure to add to that – providing City can get a deal over the line.
