Hussain AlSaeed has provided a new update on the stadium situation at Bristol Rovers

Bristol Rovers owner and chairman Hussain AlSaeed has claimed that the club are seeking land to build a new stadium.

The Kuwaiti businessman is confident that the club are heading in the right direction, as they move forward with their plans to build a new home for the Gas.

It was originally planned that the League Two side would look to redevelop the Memorial Ground, but they have instead opted for a new stadium entirely.

A series of red flags emerged in their research into how they could develop the ground, which has instigated the change in position.

Bristol Rovers supporters have grown frustrated with the current owners, who have overseen the club’s decline into League Two since taking over in 2023.

And the situation surrounding their home ground has only fuelled further agitation, with fans losing patience due to broken promises.

AlSaeed has claimed that there were too many red flags regarding the potential development of the Memorial Ground, and that they are now moving forward with plans to build a new stadium instead.

He praised the expertise they have received from supporters, who have helped them identify potential land to purchase for the ground, and that they are now in talks with owners to secure a site for the development.

“I think we moved away from the idea of redeveloping the Memorial because of the red flags that we had in our studies,” said AlSaeed, via Sky Sports on X.

“And I think now we’re moving away into that, and with the help of local experts, Gasheads, identify a shortlist of land that we can actually move into.

“And at the moment we are talking to the land owners to potentially purchase land for the stadium.

“So that’s at this stage, and we’re taking one by one at the moment, so hopefully we can have some good news soon.

“We’re working very hard towards that goal.”

Bristol Rovers lost top spot in the League Two table last weekend following a 2-0 loss to Grimsby Town.

This was the club’s second defeat of the campaign, having won four from their opening six fixtures for a total of 12 points from a possible 18.

Steve Evans’ side will be aiming to earn promotion back to League One this season after being relegated in 2025.
