The past 18 months for all involved at Bristol Rovers have been a nightmare, as the Pirates have had very few positives after being relegated back down to League Two at the end of last season.
With a 22nd place finish last time out, their disappointing form has continued into the fourth tier after being tipped as heavy promotion candidates before a ball was kicked.
After three losses on the bounce to kick off the season, Pirates fans were fearing the worst for the season ahead. However, with two positive wins under their belt against Cambridge and Grimsby, the club look to be steering back on track.
Bristol Rovers currently sit in 16th place with six games down, and will be hoping to bring back the feel-good factor to the Memorial ground after it being absent for some time now.
As for the summer transfer window, fans were hoping that the club would show a statement of intent to make an immediate return to League One, but instead they have been left frustrated as it just hasn't worked out that way.
After a summer of turmoil and more so uncertainty for Bristol Rovers, despite being in the promotion conversation for the current campaign, Pirates fans were unsure of what to expect heading into their first season back in League Two, as the summer transfer window didn't fill them with confidence by any means.
FLW's Bristol Rovers fan pundit, Ziggy Carter, believes that the club could have done much more to prepare for what has always been a difficult league to get out of.
Ziggy said, "I think one of the things that my club got wrong this transfer window was they didn't get rid of enough deadwood. I think we have a few who are on our radar that we wanted to get rid of, who haven't performed so far this season."
"Clinton Mola, I assume, is on a reasonably high wage and just hasn't performed. He's made mistakes and has just been really poor. Taylor Moore, who I've got a bit more respect for, I think we haven't got rid of him because he does lots of stuff outside of the footballing world with his '5k your way', which I think brings a lot of positivity at the club."
"But I think not getting rid of those players who seemed like a parasite in the last team."
Bristol Rovers have made some exciting signings this summer with the arrival of established EFL players such as Ellis Harrison, Josh McEachran, and Macauley Southam-Hales entering the group. However, despite solid additions to the squad, departures has been where the problem lies for FLW's Bristol Rovers fan pundit, Ziggy.
Having already mentioned players like Mola and Moore, being two that the club should have got rid of this summer, Ziggy said, "There were rumours that they were messing about in training and weren't giving it their all for the club, which is ultimately what every football fan wants.
"I think that can still affect the team, and it can still affect the fanbase as well, because it is very hard for a fanbase to forget about the problems that the club has had, especially with certain players."
"So, I think not getting rid of some of the players from last season is where the problem lies."
What Bristol Rovers fans want to see is a sense of stability within their club. A key way to do this is by getting positive results on the pitch to win the fans over and foster high morale within the group. With the Pirates looking on the up in terms of getting points on the board, their progression may be on the horizon in the near future.
