"They offered David Broncano a Segunda Federación club and he called to ask if I would fancy buying it," said Arturo Valls, speaking on SER's Mano a mano podcast.

"I spoke to my adviser and he said it could be a good business, but being a public figure can hurt you."

Valls initially declined to name the club, then revealed it was Real Ávila. He said it was in Segunda at the time and that the pair considered the move before deciding against it.

He described the prospect as "a very romantic idea".

A lifelong Valencia fan, Valls said he could not buy the club because he does not have the assets and running a team is highly complex. He lives in Madrid and travels to Mestalla with his son when he can.
