According to CNN Portugal, Benfica are said to have placed Richard Ríos on the market, with the Colombia international’s representatives now in Europe to progress his future.

The player’s agents were in Lisbon recently and are seeking a solution for the No 20 to leave.

The report adds that Benfica have shut the door on exits for Gianluca Prestianni, Andreas Schjelderup and Vangelis Pavlidis. In contrast, the club are open to talks for Amar Dedić, Anatoliy Trubin and Ríos to help generate funds this window.

Football Insider reports that Newcastle have monitored Ríos for months and view him as a leading option to replace Bruno Guimarães, who has joined Arsenal. The Magpies could move to a bid as the market enters its final stretch.

Ríos joined Benfica in summer 2025 from Palmeiras in a deal worth €27 million. He was a key figure in his debut campaign, making 45 appearances with eight goals and six assists.
