Bruno Fernandes enters Portugal’s top 10 most-capped players | OneFootball

Bruno Fernandes made his 95th appearance for Portugal on Thursday as the Seleção secured a 1-0 win over Wales in the Nations League.

The Manchester United midfielder started the game and completed the full 90 minutes, in Jorge Jesus' first game in charge.

The appearance marked a significant milestone for Fernandes. The 30-year-old has now overtaken Rui Costa to move into 10th place in Portugal’s all-time appearance rankings.

Looking further up the list, Fernandes is now just one game away from drawing level with Bruno Alves, who sits ninth with 96 caps. Rui Patrício (108), Fernando Couto (110) and Nani (112) occupy the next three places.

Bernardo Silva is currently fifth with 113 appearances and, in the not-too-distant future, will look to close the gap on Luís Figo, who earned 127 caps for Portugal.

Pepe completes the podium with 141 appearances, while João Moutinho sits second on 146. At the top, of course, is Cristiano Ronaldo, who has represented Portugal 234 times at senior level and continues to add to that remarkable total.

As for Fernandes, the current Red Devils midfielder has so far recorded 29 goals and 25 assists for Portugal.
