There was panic within Old Trafford when news spread of Al-Hilal’s interest in Manchester United’s skipper Bruno Fernandes.
The Saudi Pro League side were ready to submit a €120 million bid for the Portugal international while offering the midfield maestro €70 million-per-year in wages.
But the club captain decided to reject those overtures in favour of staying in Manchester, much to the delight of United fans around the world.
But interest from the Middle-East has not waned with A Bola now claiming Al-Hilal’s rivals Al-Nassr are now eyeing the Portuguese superstar.
Money is not a problem for them either, with manager Jorge Jesus desperate to reunite Cristiano Ronaldo and Joao Felix with their compatriot.
“Jorge Jesus wants to take Bruno Fernandes to Al Nassr now. After securing João Félix, the Portuguese coach is preparing to attempt what would be the biggest market bomb.
“A transfer window is in sight! Jorge Jesus wants to secure Bruno Fernandes’ signing for Al Nassr this summer, in a deal that, if completed, would bring the Manchester United captain together with Cristiano Ronaldo and João Félix at the Saudi club.
“Money won’t be a problem, not even the fact that Bruno Fernandes is valued at 50 million euros by the specialist website Transfermarkt (the amount sought by United will always be much higher).
“Nor the fact that the Portuguese international recently turned down a stratospheric salary offer from Al Hilal: the Saudis offered him a 70 million euro salary for each of the five-year contract offered and deposited 120 million euros into the Manchester giant’s account for the transfer.”
It is unlikely that the 30-year-old will chose to jump ship so soon after turning down a lucrative move to the same league.
Ruben Amorim has made no secret of his desire to keep hold of his talisman, who has started pre-season in sensational fashion as usual.
Currently, the head coach seems to favour using him as part of a midfield pivot following the acquisitions of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.
