Bruno Genesio negotiations drag as Europa League uncertainty leaves Habib Beye preparing at Marseille | OneFootball

Marseille are pushing to appoint Bruno Genesio, yet Europa League uncertainty lingers and Habib Beye stays in post preparing next season. According to L'Équipe, talks are advanced but not final, and UEFA have not ruled.

Since sporting director Grégory Lorenzi arrived on 28 May, little has moved as the club await UEFA’s review of accounts. Only a mid-June timeframe is indicated after hopes of a verdict on Wednesday.

Marseille spoke to Christophe Galtier before settling on Genesio as their choice.

Beye, appointed in February and under contract until 2027, has held no talks over a termination. He has only seen media suggestions his role is uncertain.

With his staff, he is planning pre-season. A return programme went to coordinator Aziz Mady Mogne, and training and friendlies were discussed with hierarchy.

If Europa League exclusion cools Genesio, Beye could still lead the restart. Training is slated between 3 and 6 July at La Commanderie, then a Netherlands camp and Vélodrome gala before Ligue 1 starts on 22 August against Strasbourg.

Lorenzi is also working ahead of a DNCG hearing due before month-end. Major sales are a priority, and discussions have opened with Mason Greenwood and his camp.

Under contract until 2029, the 24-year-old is Marseille’s key asset, though 40 percent of any fee would go to Manchester United. Roma lead the chase and interest him, but cannot meet €50m. Suitors are limited after 2022 accusations, complaint withdrawn in February 2023.
