Bruno Guimarães honoured for 50 games with Brazil | OneFootball

Bruno Guimarães wore the Brazil jersey for the 50th time in the 4-2 win over Australia in Brisbane and was honored by the Brazilian National Team this Friday (2). Before the final training session ahead of the friendly against India, the midfielder received a commemorative jersey marking the milestone from the hands of Brazil’s head of delegation during the Super Data FIFA window, Rubens Lopes.

“I’d like to thank everyone. It’s a very important milestone for me and my family. When I was a teenager, my dream was to play one game for the National Team, and now I’m reaching 50. I’m extremely happy about this milestone. I hope many more games and trophies are still to come,” celebrated the No. 8, who was also congratulated by head coach Carlo Ancelotti, the general executive coordinator of Men’s National Teams, Rodrigo Caetano, and the men’s national teams manager, Cícero Souza, as well as the entire delegation.

In addition to reaching the mark in the match, Bruno had another reason to celebrate: he scored Brazil’s go-ahead goal in the game.

The Rio de Janeiro native’s journey with the National Team began on November 17, 2020, when he made his debut in a 2-0 win over Uruguay in the qualifiers at Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, the Uruguayan capital. His first goal came on March 29, 2022, in the 4-0 rout of Bolivia in the qualifiers in La Paz, Bolivia.

Since then, Bruno has become a regular name in Brazil’s call-ups. Today, in addition to his 50 matches, he has four goals and more than 3,100 minutes on the field, having played in the 2022 and 2026 World Cups and the 2024 Copa América.

At the last World Cup, he shared second place in the ranking of players with the most assists: he provided four assists, alongside Messi (France), Mbappé (France), Brahim Díaz (Morocco), and Martin Ødegaard (Norway). The leader was Olise (France), with seven.

This Saturday (3), Bruno could be selected to play for the 51st time for Brazil. This time, the friendly will be against India, in the first-ever meeting between the national teams, at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium (known as Salt Lake) in Kolkata, at 11 a.m. Brasília time (7:30 p.m. local time).
