Brazil will be without him for friendlies against France on 26 March and Croatia on 31 March.

A key player for Carlo Ancelotti's side, he is expected to be in recovery until at least the second half of April.

The former Lyon man is expected to travel to Brazil for treatment with national team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar, enabling staff to monitor his progress. He has 41 caps and two goals.
