Bruno Henrique came off the bench to seal Flamengo’s 2-1 win over Corinthians in the Brasileirão. Lucas Paquetá also scored for Flamengo. According to Globo.com, Bruno Henrique was rated the standout performer.
Flamengo dominated the first half, with Pedro denied by goalkeeper Hugo and Ayrton Lucas seeing a shot cleared off the line. Soon after the interval Paquetá broke the deadlock with a fine strike. Corinthians then grew into the game and equalised.
Jorginho and Carrascal were introduced and helped shift the momentum. Joaquín Freitas arrived late and provided the assist for Bruno Henrique’s winner, after Jorginho had started the move. The forward took his chance to complete the turnaround.
Léo Ortiz read the game well and stepped out decisively, while Ayrton Lucas impressed again down the left. Erick Pulgar controlled midfield and tried his luck from range. Varela struggled with his delivery and missed a clear chance, and Alex Sandro was beaten in the move for the goal.
Pedro’s finishing let him down and his run without a goal reached five matches. Arrascaeta is still short of his best after the World Cup, though he continued to slip in dangerous passes. Plata returned to the starting side after a failed move to Russia, worked hard and created openings.
Head coach Leonardo Jardim saw his side slow after leading, and his late changes finally swung it back.
