Bruno Henrique’s legal team has filed fresh appeals with the Tribunal de Justiça do Distrito Federal e dos Territórios, alleging a procedural error in accepting a fraud indictment. According to Coluna Do Fla, the defence also wants the Superior Tribunal de Justiça and the Supremo Tribunal Federal to review the case.

The defence argues the case lacks legal basis because, in this type of matter, betting operators must lodge a formal complaint, which they say did not happen. The TJDFT deems a complaint unnecessary, citing fraud alerts sent to integrity bodies as proof operators want him investigated.

Late in the 2023 Brasileirão, the forward was booked against Santos in Brasília after betting sites detected heavy wagering on him to be cautioned. After the alert, he was accused of manipulation and obtained a suspensive order to keep playing.

His representatives later reduced the sanction, arguing he did not profit. Flamengo had also advised him to take a third yellow to avoid a ban in a more important match.

Even so, he was fined R$ 100,000 on the basis that he had shared privileged information that financially benefited his brother and other bettors.

The forward is in Portugal with team-mates for three friendlies there and one in Brasília, to maintain rhythm during the World Cup pause. Messages with his brother, Wander Junior, suggested he had no intention of manipulation and he became irritated when asked about the card.
