Bruno Henrique is suspended for Flamengo’s derby with Botafogo after a third yellow card, so head coach Leonardo Jardim has called 17-year-old striker Josmar into first-team training. The clássico is on Sunday at 16:00 Brasília time at the Maracanã, in round 25 of the Campeonato Brasileiro.

According to Globo.com, the Recife-born centre-forward joined from Avaí for R$ 3.5 million at the start of the year and is regarded as one of the club’s brightest prospects.

He became the youngest scorer in the points-format era of Série B in November last year. For the under-20 side he has 14 goals and one assist in 28 matches, starting during their run to the Libertadores Sub-20 runners-up spot.

Josmar also scored in each of the first three rounds of the under-20 Carioca, in 3-1 wins over Portuguesa and Nova Iguaçu and a 1-0 victory against Boavista.

He could be named in the senior squad for the first time, but he is competing with Wallace Yan to understudy Pedro against Botafogo. The 21-year-old forward was not selected for last Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Cruzeiro at the Mineirão and is in talks over a move to Bragantino.
