Orkun Köçkü, crossed off at Benfica by Bruno Lage, could be central to Besiktas’s push to prise Vangelis Pavlidis from Benfica.

Besiktas remain keen on the striker and have lodged an offer of around 20 million euros. Fanatik reports that club president Serdal Adali is personally leading talks and is in regular contact with Rui Costa.

Any deal looks complex, with Pavlidis under contract until 2029 and protected by a 100 million euros release clause.

Köçkü and Pavlidis forged a strong bond at Estádio da Luz, and the midfielder has used that connection to outline Besiktas’s sporting project to the forward.

Beyond the footballing case, Köçkü has highlighted the atmosphere at Besiktas Park and the ambition of the club’s new leadership, seeking to tempt Pavlidis to consider a move to Türkiye in this window.

There is no agreement between the clubs. The forward is thought to be open to the possibility, with any final decision dependent on negotiations and on the assessment of Benfica’s new head coach, Marco Silva, recently confirmed as José Mourinho’s successor.
