Bruno Lage wants to bring Benfica midfielder Manu Silva to Al Diriyah on loan as he looks to bolster his midfield.

According to Glorioso 1904, the Portuguese coach has added Manu Silva to his shortlist and hopes to reunite with him after their time together at Benfica.

The plan centres on a loan move, with Lage aiming to use his knowledge of the player to persuade him to head to the Middle East. The arrival of João Palhinha could further limit opportunities for Benfica’s number 16.

Benfica are not inclined to ease the player’s exit. While open to assessing a possible loan, the hierarchy regard Manu Silva as an important asset and will not accept terms below their valuation.

Al Diriyah’s current proposal has not convinced Benfica’s decision-makers. For talks to progress, Lage would need the Saudi club to improve the offer and present a stronger case.

For now, the coach’s wish runs into Benfica’s stance. Manu Silva remains a clear target for Al Diriyah, but only a sufficiently attractive bid might shift the position of the SAD headed by Rui Costa.
