Bruno Pittón’s comeback arrives at a welcome moment for Unión, with the left side set for change after a turbulent finish to the year.

According to Radiogol.com, the left-back endured two major setbacks. He fractured his lower jaw in November 2024, underwent surgery and missed the run-in. In May 2025 he tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, again needing an operation and months of recovery.

The picture has improved in recent weeks. Pittón returned to ball work and trained alongside the squad, finishing the year in good condition. He is due to be available from two January, when pre-season begins.

Unión do not want to enter 2026 short on the left. Claudio Corvalán, who slipped down the pecking order and played little, is close to leaving despite a valid contract. Everything points to a return to Quilmes, while the club’s need to trim the wage bill amid an operational deficit also pushes the move.

At the same time, rumours of a Mateo Del Blanco transfer are growing, with foreign sides monitoring him and formal enquiries lodged in recent weeks. The club are analysing a possible sale that could bring in a meaningful fee to help restructure the squad.

In that context, Pittón shifts from rotation option to an essential piece for the next phase.
