Bruno Rodrigues has given up the No 11 at Palmeiras to Jhon Arias and, with opportunities limited, is in talks over a loan back to Cruzeiro, according to Globo.com. He has been reassigned No 20, but may not wear it if a deal is struck.
After talks with Inter failed to progress, agents offered him to Cruzeiro’s hierarchy. The parties are working on a loan, mirroring the proposal previously mooted to the Colorado club, and discussions continue.
Other teams made enquiries for the forward but none advanced. Presented on Friday, Arias wore 11 and said the number matters in a World Cup year, publicly thanking Bruno for stepping aside.
Signed in 2024 after a standout spell at Cruzeiro, Bruno then spent almost 600 days out following two knee operations.
He returned in the second half of 2025, finishing with two goals in 11 appearances, and has featured four times in 2026 without notable impact.
Academy forward Luighi, No 31, has been the most used back-up in attack. Although he had suitors, Palmeiras kept him and now aim to settle Bruno’s future before the window shuts on 3 March.
