Bruno Santos marked his Mirassol debut with a goal in the 2-1 win over Grêmio on Friday, making his presence felt within 15 minutes on the pitch. Globo.com reports that the forward celebrated the start of his spell with the Leão and reflected on his rapid rise.

Signed for the remainder of the season, he arrived as Série B’s top scorer with Londrina, scoring 11 in 16. Mirassol paid his release clause to bring him into the national top flight.

After the match, the number 30 said he is living the best phase of his career and that his first Mirassol goal had special meaning. He thanked team-mates for the warm welcome and noted he had been playing Série C only a year ago.

A year earlier he was at Guarani, where he scored six in 16 appearances.

He shared the credit for the victory, highlighted a strong first half and said the focus now is on rest, work and adjustments for a demanding campaign.

Head coach Rafael Guanaes praised the immediate impact, describing Bruno as a player who seeks goals and is enjoying an excellent year. He said Mirassol’s improvement depends on their forwards converting chances, with productivity in the final third an area they continue to work on after the first half of the year.

Mirassol visit Vasco on Saturday, 25, at São Januário in round 20 of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
