French Arminia Bielefeld striker Bryan Lasme (24) is set to leave Die Blauen after their relegation to 3. Bundesliga to join Schalke 04, according to a report from L’Equipe.
The former Sochaux forward is set to put pen to paper over a four-year contract with Die Knappen in the coming days. Lasme will be a free agent at the end of the month. The 24-year-old forward signed for Bielefeld two years ago. Die Blauen suffered back-to-back relegations those last two seasons. Despite registering seven goals and three assists, Lasme could not prevent Bielefeld from dropping to the German third tier last season.
According to L’Equipe, Lasme had attracted interest from VFB Stuttgart, Hamburger SV and Polish champions Rakow. However, the Montauban-born forward will remain in the 2. Bundesliga with Schalke 04. The Sochaux academy product was capped three times by the France U20 side, scoring once during his time with Les Bleuets.
