Hungarian police have not flagged specific concerns in recent hours ahead of Saturday’s Champions League final between PSG and Arsenal in Budapest at 18:00, despite UEFA classing the match as high risk. The expected arrival of about 10,000 ticketless English supporters watching from bars is a risk factor.

According to L'Équipe, that influx comes on top of roughly 16,000 or so tickets allocated to each club, with high temperatures forecast and heavy drinking also factors to watch.

Another concern is the prospect of clashes involving Hungarian ultras and their Paris counterparts, who hold opposing political views. Several local groups are associated with the right or far right, while Collectif Ultras Paris identify with the left or far left.

Five French police officers, one from the Division nationale de lutte contre le hooliganisme and four from the Préfecture de police de Paris, are in Budapest to liaise between French fans and local authorities and to identify high-risk cases.

Hungarian police plan a major operation of more than 4,000 officers around the Puskas Arena, at railway stations, on the metro, in the city centre and near the Paris and English fan zones. Supporters will have separate routes to the stadium and dedicated areas.
