Bukayo Saka has scored from close range to double Arsenal’s lead against newly-promoted Coventry City in the opening match of the 2026/27 Premier League season.
The Gunners made a blistering start at the Emirates Stadium, breaking the deadlock in the 15th minute when Kai Havertz opened the scoring for the new top-flight campaign.
The goal stemmed from relentless pressing by new summer signing Christos Tzolis, whose turnover allowed left-back Riccardo Calafiori to drive forward and deliver a precise low cross for Havertz to side-foot home.
Just eight minutes later, Mikel Arteta’s side doubled their advantage through another fluid team move.
Moving the ball swiftly through midfield, Arsenal worked possessional play out wide to Tzolis.
The Greek international whipped a menacing delivery directly into the six-yard box that was parried away by Coventry goalkeeper only into the path of Saka, who was waiting to tap it home from close range.
