Cercle Brugge appear to be indicating that Japanese international striker Ayase Ueda is unlikely to be playing in green and black next season. The striker, who only joined in the summer from J-League side Kashima Antlers for €1.2m, has scored 21 goals this season. According to Het Nieuwsblad, the 24-year-old is attracting interest from unnamed German and English sides.
The striker began his career with Kashima Antlers, playing 103 games for them and scoring 47 goals. He has also been capped 14 times by the Japanese national team, but is yet to score. Transfermarkt currently believe the player to be valued at around €3.5m, although Cercle will likely ask for more given the season he has had. Either way, they will certainly make a healthy profit on the amount he cost to bring in.
Cercle are coming off their best season for almost a decade, having finished in the top eight and qualified for play-off two. Unfortunately they were unable to qualify for Europe, with Gent taking the last spot available by winning the four group play-off with two games remaining.
