Bundesliga star in focus! Are Bayern helping themselves to Eintracht Frankfurt?

According to the latest media reports, FC Bayern are no longer just focusing their attention on international midfield talents – the Bundesliga is now once again becoming a field of observation for Max Eberl and his planners. According to The Athletic, Munich are specifically looking at Hugo Larsson from Eintracht Frankfurt.

The potential transfer is gaining significance because Leon Goretzka’s contract expires at the end of the season and it is still completely unclear whether the 30-year-old will continue to play a role at the German record champions. While Goretzka is hoping to stay, his future in Kompany’s system is unclear. This is precisely why Bayern are intensively exploring the market – and Larsson fits the profile they are looking for perfectly.

Larsson’s development attracts the attention of top clubs

The 21-year-old Swede is one of the most eye-catching midfielders in the Bundesliga. Since moving from Malmö to Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2023, Larsson has undergone a remarkable development. He is no longer just a talent, but has long been a key player at SGE – and is now also an integral part of the Swedish national team.

His qualities lie in the combination of dynamism, anticipation, strong ball winning and clean, vertical passing. It is precisely this mix that makes him attractive to Premier League clubs – and now also to FC Bayern.

Frankfurt once invested nine million euros, today Larsson is valued at around 40 million– a jump in market value that clearly reflects his development.

Eintracht is willing to talk – but only for €50 million or more

As The Athletic reports, not only top English clubs are ready, but Bayern are also actively looking into the matter. Internally, Larsson is high on the scouting list because he has exactly the qualities FCB are looking for in midfield in many key areas: physical presence, resistance to pressing, strategic stability and variability.

However, a transfer would not be a foregone conclusion. Eintracht’s sporting director Michael Krösche is considered a tough negotiator and has tied Larsson down for the long term. His contract runs until 2029 and there is no exit clause.

According to The Athletic, the SGE would only be prepared to discuss a transfer for €50 million or more. This sum makes it clear that Larsson is one of the most valuable building blocks in the Frankfurt project.

For FC Bayern, the question arises as to what the central axis should look like in the future. With Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlovic and Tom Bischof, FCB already has a strong line-up. Before they become active in the summer, a lot depends on the decision surrounding Goretzka.
