Bundesliga superstar addresses Barcelona interest – ‘Unlikely that anything will change’ | OneFootball

FC Barcelona are all set to enter the market next summer for a top centre-forward to replace Robert Lewandowski, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Despite the 37-year-old veteran’s fine form in recent weeks, it appears Barça will not be renewing his contract, and will instead sign a new player to lead the team’s attack.

Bayern Munich and England superstar Harry Kane, to that end, has emerged as a target for the La Liga champions, with his €65 million release clause for next summer seen as viable.

Kane breaks silence on future

Speaking ahead of the blockbuster Champions League match between Arsenal and Bayern Munich, Kane addressed his future and the interest from Barcelona.

“I haven’t been in contact with anyone, nor has anyone been in contact with me. I feel very comfortable in the current situation, and we haven’t discussed anything with Bayern about the future yet,” Kane told BILD (h/t SPORT).

“There’s no rush. I’m happy at Bayern and that shows in the way I play. If there are any contacts, we’ll see. I’m not thinking about next season, to be honest. The first thing, after the end of the season, is the World Cup,” he added.

Pressed further on the matter, the former Tottenham Hotspur striker had to clarify whether he could leave Bayern in the summer.

“It’s very unlikely that anything will change next season,” he insisted.

When asked if Bayern fans should feel uneasy, the striker was firm, saying: “No, I do not think so.”

Judging by the comments, Kane might not be looking for a new chapter in his career at the end of the season, which would come as a blow to Barcelona’s plans.

The Blaugrana have made enquiries about the situation and have gone no further. He is highly valued at the Catalan club, and they believe it could be a move similar to Lewandowski’s transfer a few years ago, which delivered very good results

But whether Kane is willing to consider a change of scenery come summer remains to be seen.
