Ouagadougou is gearing up to pay tribute to one hundred national and international personalities during the 2026 Street of Stars ceremony. On this occasion, a commemorative monument has been dedicated to George Weah.

The scientific committee of the Street of Stars announced that George Weah, Africa's only Ballon d'Or winner, has been selected to be among those honored in the second edition of this prestigious event.The Street of Stars is a project sponsored by the Sotigui Academy and aims to honor figures who have left their mark on history.

George Weah, who won the Ballon d'Or in 1995, is regarded as one of the greatest African footballers of all time. After becoming the president of Liberia, his remarkable career and dedication to developing football in Africa have earned him this prestigious recognition.

In doing so, he joins an elite group of African and global football icons such as Moumouni Dagano, King Pelé, Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto'o, Jay-Jay Okocha, and Sadio Mané, who already have monuments on the Street of Stars, located on Kwame Nkrumah Avenue in the heart of Ouagadougou.
