Wolfsburg are interested in a transfer for Josh Sargent

Wolfsburg are eyeing up a move for Norwich City forward Josh Sargent.

The 25-year-old netted 44 goals across the last three Championship campaigns and has emerged as one of the division’s deadliest forwards.

His future has been widely speculated over during the start of this window and has now attracted interest from the Bundesliga.

Norwich City have enjoyed a positive start to the summer, after taking manager Liam Manning off fellow Championship side Bristol City.

However, they may be set to lose one of their prize assets.

According to German outlet Kicker, have stated that Wolfsburg are considering a move for Sargent this window.

The Bundesliga side are looking for a new goalscorer following the departures of Kevin Behrens, Bartosz Bialek and Felix Nmecha.

A deal for the forward wouldn’t be cheap according to the report, with Sargent contracted at Carrow Road until 2028.

The 25-year-old has featured in the Bundesliga previously for Werder Bremen, the side he left to join Norwich in 2021.

Wolves striker Fabio Silva is another target for the German outfit, Portuguese international is reportedly unconvinced by a move to the Die Wölfe.

Sargent has been linked with Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Roma so far this summer, with Football League World exclusively revealing that Burnley have joined the race for the USMNT forward.

Norwich should hold out regarding Josh Sargent sale

On the surface, multiple clubs in more competitive positions vying for Sargent’s signature isn’t what Norwich City needed to start the summer.

That said, the Canaries hold all the cards in this scenario and if they play them correctly, could still achieve a positive outcome.

With so many teams keen on signing the 25-year-old, Norwich may hold a bidding war for his services and end up making a serious profit on their asset.

On the other hand, due to his existing contract at Carrow Road, Sargent could realistically remain as a Canaries player next season if no team can reach Manning and Co.’s valuation of their forward.

As a result, Norwich could still make their Sargent saga one that benefits the club in the long term, no matter the outcome.
