Burnley have been linked with a move for former Brighton star Solly March, and FLW's Clarets Fan Pundit has made his feelings clear.

Burnley are looking to put the finishing touches on Nicky Hayen's squad in the final days of the summer transfer window, with Solly March one of the players linked with a move to Turf Moor.

The former Brighton star became a free agent last month, after bringing his lengthy association with the Seagulls to an end.

Having joined the club in 2011, the 32-year-old departed the Amex Stadium after racking up 300 appearances for the south coast outfit.

As a result, he has attracted attention across the Championship, with Burnley among those reportedly interested as the Clarets strive for a Premier League return.

Reacting to the news, Football League World's Burnley Fan Pundit, Aaron Wright, gave his verdict on a potential move, suggesting that his versatility makes him a particularly useful addition to Hayen's squad.

"Absolutely, I'd take Solly March," Wright told FLW.

"He can play at right-back and on the wing. We kind of need cover in both.

"Walker isn't really doing it; with Roberts, you don't know, and then on the right wing we are just so inconsistent."

March rose through the ranks at Brighton before becoming a regular ahead of their ascent to the Premier League in 2017. Wright noted this when considering a move.

"March has been reliable for nigh on 15 years for Brighton, so yes, I would absolutely take him," Aaron concluded.

The Clarets are not alone in showing interest in March - an unsurprising fact given his experience in England, despite racking up just 38 minutes in the Premier League due to injury last term.

, while Watford and Wrexham are also said to be interested.

Crystal Palace are also reportedly considering the possibility of keeping March in the Premier League, despite his association with arch-rivals Brighton, but that on paper looks less likely, given his recent injury history.

A concern is that he has registered just 26 appearances across his last three seasons, requiring knee surgery on two occasions whihch has kept him out on a long-term basis - but a move could make complete sense for a club in Burnley's position.

Given his injury woes of the last few years, there is, of course, an element of risk attached to signing March.

But this could be a worthwhile gamble for Burnley, with the former Brighton star available on a free transfer.

The 32-year-old has extensive experience at a higher level, having also played in Europe, and he provides coverage across several positions.

Burnley have started the 2026-27 season slowly, with a draw against West Ham on opening weekend and defeat against West Bromwich Albion.

If the Clarets are looking to add someone dependable to the squad, who is neat with the ball, is versatile, and can provide a different option on either flank and at full-back, they could do much worse than March.

Whilst March wouldn't be a long-term signing, no side aiming to get out of the Championship could reasonably oppose signing the versatile wideman on a free - there's risks of course with his past knee injuries, but he likely wouldn't be dropping to the Championship if those setbacks did not happen in the last few years.
