That is according to HITC, which states that the Clarets are going to succeed in appointing Hjulmand as their new manager.

The Lancashire side have been searching for a new manager for some time now after Vincent Kompany’s surprise exit to Bayern Munich.

Names such as Ruud van Nistelrooy, Scott Parker, Craig Bellamy, and Carlos Corberan have been mentioned, but it now appears as though Hjulmand is going to win the race, as Burnley have made him an offer and they hope he will accept to join this week.

It was reported by Sacha Tavolieri last week that the Clarets hope to finalise a deal for a new manager this week, and that appears to be the case.

Kasper Hjulmand is currently the manager of Denmark and has been since 2020, but that appears to be coming to an end as he looks set to join Burnley.

The Clarets have been put into a situation they didn’t expect, as even though they had a disappointing campaign in the Premier League, they were expected to retain the services of Vincent Kompany.

However, that choice was taken out of their hands, as the Belgian decided to leave the club as soon as Bayern Munich made their interest known.

That has meant Burnley have been searching for a new manager, and it has been a difficult search for numerous reasons, but it now appears to be coming to an end.

According to HITC, Burnley are closing in on the appointment of Hjulmand as their new manager.

The report states that they have offered him a deal, and they hope he will accept it this week as they look to finalise the new appointment.

Hjulmand has been the manager of the Denmark national team since August 2020, and he has led the national side to several European Championship tournaments and World Cups.

His Denmark team reached the Euro 2020 semi-finals but crashed out in the group stages of the following World Cup.

He has just overseen another tournament for Denmark, with the Scandinavians reaching the last 16 of Euro 2024, but they were knocked out by host nation Germany.

As well as managing the national team, Hjulmand has also managed in the Danish league, as well as a brief spell at German side Mainz 05.

The 52-year-old has overseen 358 games as a manager, of which 147 he has won and 128 he has lost. Hjulmand is still under contract with the Danish national team until the summer of 2026, so there will need to be an agreement made between the national team and Burnley for this move to happen.

Hjulmand has won 60% of his games in charge of the Denmark team, but the 2-0 defeat to the Germans on Saturday could be his final match in charge.

Kasper Hjulmand would be a risky appointment for Burnley

There are no doubts about the fact that Kasper Hjulmand has earned a very good reputation since taking over the Danish national team.

He has put together a very competitive squad, one that has caused upsets in past tournaments and is always considered a dark horse in competitions.

However, the 52-year-old has never managed in England before, especially in the Championship, so it has to be said that there is an element of risk with this deal, whatever he has done on the international stage.

Hjulmand does like to play on the front foot, attacking football, and he could be ideal in replacing Kompany. There may also need to be a bit of patience with his arrival, given his lack of English experience, but it could be a very good appointment.
