The former Bristol City man played an integral part in Scott Parker’s men securing an immediate promotion back to the Premier League, with the 28-year-old recording an impressive 18 goals and six assists from 42 Championship appearances.

The Clarets’ club captain is undoubtedly going to be linked with moves away from the club, with his contract situation at Burnley raising the eyebrows of many suitors on a potential free transfer.

Burnley revealed in their released and retained list that discussions are ongoing with Brownhill over a new deal, but multiple suitors are circling for moves as the summer transfer window edges closer.

This isn’t the first time Trabzonspor have been linked with a move for Josh Brownhill, with the club having a bid rejected for the midfielder back in August 2024.

But a fresh report from Gune Bakis reveals Trabzonspor haven’t given up hope of luring Brownhill away from Turf Moor, but will face increasing competition from the likes of Wolves and Everton.

Fellow Turkish giants Besiktas are also touted to make a move for the Burnley man, with the Black Eagles reportedly contacting Brownhill’s agent to get an idea of the player’s demands before entering negotiations.

Manchester United legend and current Besiktas boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær has given his approval for the transfer to happen as he looks to stamp his authority on the playing squad this summer, with the 52-year-old only appointed into the hotseat at the turn of the year.

Burnley must do all they can to keep Josh Brownhill

Josh Brownhill was a fantastic asset to have in the second tier this season, with his commanding presence on the pitch, natural ability to read the game, and his late-arriving runs and set-piece threat making him an all-round gem of a Championship midfielder.

An established player in the Burnley engine room, such an impressive term could see Brownhill finally make the step-up in class to being a regular and successful Premier League player, with his qualities both defensively and offensively on transition standing him in good stead to offer regular attacking contributions in England’s top division.

Burnley will be hoping he can continue that development in claret and blue, with the club desperately needing a player of such creative output to help score enough goals to avoid another dreaded immediate relegation.

Negotiating a new deal for Brownhill could be the decisive factor over whether Burnley can turn themselves into an established Premier League side from years gone by, but moves to the likes of Everton could be appealing with the Toffees moving into their brand-new stadium.

The Clarets must show a statement of intent and go all out to secure Brownhill’s future, so they can then build a team around him to lead them to a positive first term back in the top-flight.
