Burnley fans have been blessed with some great talent down the years across the last 10 years, with this being arguably the best team they could name

Across the last 10 years, Burnley fans have enjoyed the Premier League, Europa League, Championship and everything in between, so they can count themselves fortunate to have seen some impressive talent down the years.

Whittling the talent Burnley have had over the last decade down to just 11 players was a thankless task, as the Clarets have had an array of talent that stretches from La Liga winners and World Cup goalscorers to England internationals.

Several players who have been great servants to the club have missed the cut, but with the supreme talent to choose from, that's more of a reflection on the calibre of players who made the XI.

The greatest manager the Clarets have had in the last decade is, of course, Sean Dyche, so in homage to the 'ginger Mourinho', Burnley's team of the decade will line up in 4-4-2.

GK - Nick Pope

First off the bat, and a really tough choice to pick a goalkeeper.

It was either Tom Heaton or Pope, and the former Charlton man probably just edges it based on the career he's gone on to have after leaving Turf Moor.

Signed from Charlton in 2016, Pope had to wait patiently for his chance in the Premier League, which duly arrived when Heaton got injured in 2017.

He helped the Clarets get into Europe and has since gone on to play in the Champions League with Newcastle and at one point was an England regular.

RB - Kieran Trippier

Probably the easiest position to pick in the whole team, Trippier will undoubtedly go down as one of the great Burnley right backs of a lifetime, not just a decade.

Signed for a nominal fee from Manchester City, it still leaves a bitter taste in the mouths of Burnley fans that Tottenham were able to sign him for £3.5m.

The high-flying full-back played 185 times for the Clarets, racking up an impressive 37 assists along the way, and was an integral part of the 2013/14 promotion team.

CB - James Tarkowski

Signed from Brentford in 2016, Tarkowski had to wait for his chance to establish himself as a regular in the side.

There was no looking back once he did break into the side, with his first full season as a regular coming in 2017/18 as Burnley reached the Europa League qualification rounds.

He was never displaced again, racking up 219 appearances and even earning an England call up.

CB - Michael Keane

Keane went on to reunite with Tarkowski at Everton later in his career, with the Manchester United academy graduate commanding a £30m fee when Burnley sold him to the Toffees.

Keane also went on to play for England after making a name for himself at Burnley, where he was integral part in the 2015/16 promotion season and the subsequent 2016/17 campaign where Burnley stayed up in the Premier League for the first time ever.

He had pace to burn in the back line, knew how to defend and even had an eye for goal. He couldn't be in the team.

Honourable mention to Ben Mee - a club legend who can feel a little hard done by to be left out.

LB - Charlie Taylor

Like some of the other names, Taylor has seen it all at Burnley - promotion, relegation and Europe.

A seven-season stint at Burnley came to an end in the summer as he departed for Southampton, but he'll always be fondly regarded at Turf Moor.

Taylor played over 200 times for the Clarets and was largely always their first-choice left back throughout his stay in the North West.

RM - Manuel Benson

There were a few potential candidates for this position, but on pure impact alone, Benson got the nod.

He set the Championship alight in the 2022/23 season, racking up 11 goals - most of which were breathtaking - to help Burnley secure an instant return to the top-flight.

A mix of poor management from Vincent Kompany and injuries have blighted his career a bit, but there's no doubting that on his day he is near unplayable.

He's still at the club, although it would seem he won't be for too much longer.

CM - Steven Defour

Another man whose time at Turf Moor was blighted by injuries, Defour was simply a joy to watch and probably the best midfielder most Burnley fans have seen in their lifetimes.

Courted by Manchester United as a youngster, only an injury denied him the chance to work under Sir Alex Ferguson.

He showed glimpses of that magic in Claret and Blue, with a famous scooped finish against Bristol City and a 30-yard free-kick at Old Trafford certainly moments for his career highlight reel.

CM - Jack Cork

Through two spells at Turf Moor, Cork has earned himself a spot in the team.

Like others in the side, he was integral to the Burnley side who got into Europe in 2018 and played with Defour for a large chunk of that season. Logic said to play the pair next to eachother.

Cork played 267 times in his career for the Clarets, more than for any other club, and is now a U21 coach at Burnley.

LM - Wilson Odobert

This inclusion may raise eyebrows as it means an exclusion for Dwight McNeil, but from what we've seen of Odobert so far, he looks likely to go onto big things.

Having moved to Tottenham for a reported £25m fee in the summer, Odobert's Turf Moor stay was short and sweet, but he made a lasting impression in that time.

Tricky to pin down with pace to burn, his trickery makes him a nightmare to defend against, and he would take a spot in a lot of Premier League teams.

ST - Chris Wood

The club's all-time record scorer in the Premier League, Wood couldn't not be in the team.

Wood scored an impressive 53 goals across his 165 Burnley games, giving him a strike rate of around one in three, which certainly isn't to be sniffed at.

He's still scoring in the top-flight now with Nottingham Forest, and his consistency in hitting double figures in the Premier League is mightily impressive.

ST - Danny Ings

The 11th and final member of the team is Danny Ings, who was simply a joy to watch in the two seasons he really excelled at Burnley.

Stepping up in the wake of Charlie Austin's departure, Ings quickly made sure he was now the main man by helping fire the Clarets to an unlikely promotion.

His move to Liverpool on a Bosman transfer certainly stung but the fact he is still playing in the Premier League to this day shows the pedigree he has at that level.
