Burnley are looking to pursue Jordan Lotomba's signature
Burnley are in talks with OGC Nice over a deal for full-back Jordan Lotomba.
That is according to French sports outlet, L'Équipe, who have revealed that the two clubs are in discussions with one another, with Burnley looking to add to their defensive ranks prior to the window slamming shut at 11PM.
The Clarets have undergone a vast amount of player turnover since their relegation from the Premier League in May, with a number of high-profile names such as Wilson Odobert, Sander Berge and Wout Weghorst among many others all departing the football club since the first game of the Championship season against Luton Town on August 12th.
There has been concern among the Clarets fanbase that Scott Parker and the board could leave themselves significantly short in terms of depth by the time the window does reach its conclusion.
However, despite the fact exit talk continues to cloud over a handful of key names at Turf Moor, incomings are potentially expected in the final hours of the window, which includes their latest pursuit of the Ligue 1 defender.
As referenced above, French outlet, L'Équipe have revealed that Burnley are in negotiations with French top flight outfit OGC Nice over the possibility of signing 25-year-old Swiss full-back, Jordan Lotomba.
The report states that the seven-time international is unclear as to where he will be at the time of the deadline as things stand, as the East Lancashire club have made their move to add further defensive solidity on the right side of defence, providing stern competition for the seasoned second tier defender, Connor Roberts.
Burnley have entered negotiations with the side on the French Riviera as Lotomba currently has less than a year to run on his deal with the club who he has made 143 appearances for in all competitions since signing from BSC Young Boys in August 2020 for a €7m fee.
Last season, Lotomba made 28 appearances in Ligue 1 - 21 of which were starts - through circumstances which saw Youcef Atal suspended in October, whilst Valentin Rosier, signed on loan from Besiktas, was unable to stake a claim for a starting berth due to fitness issues.
No transfer fee for the right-back has been mooted within the report, but given the fee which Nice garnered for his signature in 2020 and the latest valuation of his, which according to a report from Foot Mercato amid interest from Hoffenheim and Augsburg was between €5-7m, the Clarets could potentially land themselves a real coup for Championship standard.
Lotomba has played 33 minutes for his current employers this season, coming on as a substitute against Auxerre and Toulouse, but given his steady string of performances when called upon last season, he could take a firm grip of the starting berth in Parker's new-look side if a deal can be agreed as soon as possible.
