Burnley has become the latest Premier League club to show interest in Lazio centre-forward Taty Castellanos.

The Background

With his 14 goals and eight assists, the Argentinian had more direct goal contributions than any of his teammates this season. However, many Biancocelesti supporters believe that the club needs a more decisive striker to lead the line.

And yet, clubs around Europe have been queuing up for the former Girona star. In recent weeks, West Ham United, Wolverhampton, Nottingham Forest, Real Betis and Villarreal were all mentioned as potential suitors.

Lazio Reject Burnley’s Offer for Taty Castellanos

According to Il Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Burnley is the latest club to ask about Castellanos. The newly-promoted Premier League side tried to open talks with Lazio, but were met with an almost immediate rejection.

Will Castellanos Improve Under Maurizio Sarri?

As the Roman newspaper explains, the Lazio hierarchy firmly believes in Castellanos, and they’re expecting him to make a massive leap under the guidance of their returning manager, Maurizio Sarri. Therefore, the Aquile won’t consider any offers for the striker below the €40 million threshold.

The Mendoza native joined Lazio in the summer of 2023, initially serving as Ciro Immobile’s understudy before picking up the torch following the departure of the legendary striker. He remains tied to the Italian capital club with a contract valid until June 2028.
