According to Pete O'Rourke via X, Burnley are in talks with the Red Devils over a potential deal for Amass, with the Clarets discussing a deal with United over a potential loan or permanent swoop.

Amass, 19, doesn't appear to be in Michael Carrick's immediate plans at Old Trafford despite their full-back shortage, as Burnley are looking to take advantage of this in their hunt for another option in that position.

Burnley have not begun life back in the Championship as they had hoped, picking up just one point from their opening three league games, rescuing a draw in the opening matchweek against West Ham United after being 2-0 down, as defeats to West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City have followed.

Burnley, so far, have struggled to adapt to life back in the Championship, as Hayen has toyed with his defensive options in all three second-tier games thus far.

Bashir Humphreys and Connor Roberts have both deputised at left-back in the opening three games, with Brazilian defender Lucas Pires clearly unfancied by Hayen, who is searching for an alternative on the market.

At 19, Amass has already displayed he is more than capable of excelling at Championship level, enjoying a fruitful spell out on loan with Sheffield Wednesday in the second tier during the first half of last season, where he predominantly played as a left wing-back in a back five, making 21 league appearances for the Owls, scoring once and assisting once.

His excellent performances in South Yorkshire led United to recall him and send him back out on loan to the Championship, this time with Norwich City, but he would be struck by a season-ending injury after just one game, and he has since returned to fitness back in the North West.

Despite impressing in pre-season under Carrick, there appears to be no place in the side for Amass at Old Trafford, with Burnley viewing the England youth international as their ideal left-back candidate.

Should it be a permanent switch to Turf Moor, Burnley could be getting a bargain, with Amass still just 19; he has ample time to improve and develop his game, as the Clarets hope to be the beneficiaries of United's transfer decision.
