Burnley are in advanced talks to sign Leyton Orient goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux, according to The Athletic.
Vigouroux played an important role in Leyton’s promotion-winning campaign last season, helping the club to secure League One berth with 24 clean sheets in 45 appearances.
The 29-year-old’s impressive performances for Richie Wellens’ side saw him voted into the League Two Team of the Season.
Vigouroux has been a staple at Leyton since joining in the winter of 2020, managing 59 clean sheets in 152 appearances, but his time with the O’s is set to end this summer.
The goalkeeper’s contract with Leyton runs out at the end of June, and despite the club’s best efforts to keep him around, having confirmed that they offered the Chilean a new deal, he looks set to exit Brisbane Road this summer.
The London-born shot-stopper is reportedly in advanced talks to join Vincent Kompany’s newly promoted Burnley.
Although reports claim the deal is yet to be finalised, Vigoroux is one step away from signing on the dotted line. The transfer could be completed next week if talks continue to progress.
Vigoroux will provide competition to Burnley’s first-choice goalkeeper Arijanet Muric who played a massive role in helping the Clarets win the Championship, posting an impressive 17 clean sheets in 41 appearances.
Burnley are set to be active in the summer transfer window, with Kompany keen to bolster his squad ahead of his return to the Premier League as a manager.
The Clarets have already completed the permanent signing of Jordan Beyer from Borussia Monchengladbach, and the loan deal for Swansea forward Michael Obafemi is set to be made permanent this summer.
Burnley are also keen to retain Chelsea defender Ian Maatsen, who was impressive during his time at Turf Moor, but the Blues have turned down their opening bid worth £15 million plus add-ons.
Kompany will lock horns with his mentor Pep Guardiola in his first Premier League game, with Burnley set to welcome defending champions Manchester City to Turf Moor on opening day.
