Burnley vs Chelsea – Team News: In-form winger dropped by Maresca

Chelsea face Burnley at Turf Moor in just over an hour, and the teams are in!

This was bound to be an interesting selection, given we’ve just come off an international break and have two huge games next week – but this is perhaps even more different that we expected.

For starters, our first choice full backs Reece James and Marc Cucurella start, despite both playing for their national teams over the break, and despite both likely wanting to play both games next week.

In the centre, on the other hand, Tosin is brough back in and Wesley Fofana left out.

The midfielder sees Moises Caicedo predictably benched after a gruelling two weeks with Ecuador, with Andrey Santos taking his place. He plays alongside Enzo Fernandez, with Joao Pedro just ahead of them.

The attacking line has a change too – while Pedro Neto keeps his place on the right and Liam Delap continues leading the line, Jamie Gittens has replaced the in form Alejandro Garnacho, who looked to have made that place his own in recent weeks.

Here are the full team line-ups for Burnley vs Chelsea (kick off at 12:30 GMT)

Chelsea’s team to face Burnley.

It’s all very interesting and leaves us wondering about what Maresca has planned for next week. There’s no way that we can expect James or Cucurella to start both against Arsenal and Barcelona now. But we will at least have a fresh Caicedo in those games.

Defensively, it looks like we’re being lined up for a Fofana parternship with the recently returned Benoit Badiashile in at least one of those games.

What we need today is 3 points, and if we can escape with even the narrowest of victories and move on to worry about next week, we will have done well. Let’s get it done.

In other presser news…

Burnley are going to put up a serious fight tomorrow, and Maresca has already been getting some excuses in early ahead of the game…

As mentioned above, Moises Caicedo is not likely to play tomorrow after Maresca admitted that the midfielder had only just come back from international duty last night.
