Burnley FC’s Maxime Estève (24) is reportedly set to join RB Leipzig, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Under contract with the Clarets until 2030, the French defender is expected to sign for the German club shortly for a fee of €32m, including bonuses. Whilst the terms of the deal are yet to be finalised with his English counterparts, RBL’s management are said to have already convinced Estève to join them; he is expected to replace Castello Lukeba (23), who is due to leave in the coming weeks.

Initially on loan, then permanently transferred to the Clarets from Montpellier HSC in 2024, the former French Under-23 international quickly established himself as a key player for the Lancashire-based side. Although he started in all 36 of his appearances during the 2025-26 season, he was unable to prevent his team from being relegated to the Championship.

By joining Leipzig, Estève will not only experience the Bundesliga, but also the Champions League, for which the Germans qualified thanks to their third-place finish in the league.
