Despite losing the league title to bitter rivals Celtic, Rangers could still have finished their campaign on a high by clinching the Scottish Cup glory on Saturday afternoon. However, they could not grab their chances and a late howler from Jack Butland cost them the silverware.

Rangers’ player of the season made a massive mistake in the closing minutes when he failed to clear Paulo Bernardo’s effort properly. It fell favourably into the path of Adam Idah who made no mistake to find the net.

James Tavernier: 6

Could not make any significant impact as his crosses and cut insides lacked the final product. An afternoon to forget for the Gers’ captain fantastic.

Leon Balogun: 7

Passed a late fitness test to make it to the starting XI after missing out on a couple of games due to a muscle strain. Maintained the shape at the back, and also did well to neutralize the Celts’ attack.

Was fortunate not to concede a penalty when VAR checked a potential handball inside the box. Won some duels and made some crucial blocks and clearances to deal with the Hoops’ threats.

Ridvan Yilmaz: 6.5

Tried his best to make a difference with his overlapping runs and link-up play. But like Tavernier, the Turkish left fullback lacked the accuracy and decision-making on most occasions.

Mohamed Diomande: 7.5

Did his job well while featuring as the double pivot deep down the midfield. The young Nordsjælland midfielder could become an asset for the Light Blues from next season onwards once his loan deal becomes permanent in the upcoming months.

Nicolas Raskin: 7

Must be fuming still as the VAR judged his contact with Joe Hart as a push which effectively ruled out Abdallah Sima’s goal. Made way for Jack Lundstram in the closing minutes of the contest.

Dujon Sterling: 6.5

The versatile Englishman started from the right-hand flank due to his pace, power and swift footwork. But he could not offer much before making way for Ross McCausland.

Todd Cantwell: 5.5

Showed glimpses of his flair but was mostly ineffective similar to his Rangers career. Made way for  Scott Wright around the 74th-minute mark.

Fabio Silva: 6

Had an attempt denied by Joe Hart early into the game. Made way for Rabbi Matondo in the second half as he failed to add any firepower in the attacking third.

Cyriel Dessers: 5

The in-form ‘number 9’ was taken off at half-time as he struggled to contribute enough in the attacking build-ups.

Failed to make any noteworthy contribution in the attacking third.
