“Buying more at the supermarket doesn’t make you a better cook,” said Paris Saint-Germain’s sporting advisor, Luís Campos, during Monday’s round-table, attended by Get French Football News.
It was a comment that signified a change in strategy at PSG. The club still outspend all in Ligue 1, but they are looking to decrease their spending in favour of blooding through more academy products. “PSG are attentive to all of the big [market] opportunities but won’t stockpile players and put the club’s economy in danger,” said Campos.
The idea is to bring through academy products so that PSG “don’t have to go out and spend money in the market,” Campos says. The development of the U23 league in France, as well as the potential acquisition of a satellite club, an idea floated by the sporting advisor, will help the club to that end.
The January transfer window, it is expected, will be quiet, according to a report from L’Équipe.
