Romanian referee Istvan Kovacs was spotless in last night’s UEFA Champions League clash between Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the 43-year-old never made a wrong call at Signal Iduna Park.

Inter secured a futile 2-0 win against Dortmund, as they failed to secure a top-eight finish despite pulling off their first ‘big game’ victory of the season.

However, Cristian Chivu can be proud of his team’s performance.

Facing Dortmund in front of the famous ‘Yellow Wall’ was always going to be a tough task.

Still, Federico Dimarco and Andy Diouf inspired the Nerazzurri to a morale-boosting triumph at the business end of the league phase.

It wasn’t a simple game to officiate, but Kovacs lived up to the task.

Indeed, his decision to book Manuel Akanji for an over-zealous challenge on Ramy Bensebaini early in the second half was spot on.

Furthermore, he was correct to give Inter a free-kick, converted by Dimarco, as Felix Nmecha fouled Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Finally, he never bought Karim Adeyemi’s feeble attempt to draw a penalty in the 85th minute, and VAR upheld his on-field decision.
