After their 5-0 home win against Mecklenbeck last week, the BVB women are looking to pick up another three points away from home. The head coach praised his team after the game for “very good positioning, lots of chances and good counter-pressing”. The entire team has regained its optimal form after a busy schedule two weeks ago (DFB-Pokal plus two league matches): “We are grateful that we now have a normal rhythm in which we can train well. It’s also good for the team to have this kind of preparation for a match.”
He sees Rhade as a physically robust opponent who will be difficult to play against regardless of their position in the table. To this end, the team trained this week on positioning in “tight spaces and against a deep-lying opponent”. The Black & Yellows are aiming to break down the defence with counter-pressing and quick transitions. Celina Baum is the only player who will be unavailable for this task due to illness.
In view of the match against BVB Women, Rhade, currently second from bottom in the table, are talking about a game “in which we have nothing to lose”. So far, SSV have picked up four points from eight games in the Regionalliga. The team only managed to pick up points on the first two matchdays, after which they lost six fixtures in a row. The team picked up points in Gütersloh (a 2-0 win) and against Fortuna Cologne (1-1) – the two upcoming opponents of the BVB women.
