BVB women host Fortuna Köln on Sunday | OneFootball

After two clear wins against Wacker Mecklenbeck (5-0) and SSV Rhade (7-0), the BVB women are adamant to continue their winning streak. Markus Högner is positive after the two games, in which BVB were not only dominant but also succeeded in not conceding any goals. “It has given the team confidence, you can see that during training,” explains the head coach. Högner says that the team are “committed and that they have trained intensively” this week. The BVB women and the staff are focused and block out any distractions: “There's no point in constantly looking at the table,” emphasises Högner. Nevertheless: a look at the table does show that the BVB women are currently only three points behind the league leaders, the U21 team of 1. FC Köln.

But for now, the focus is on that other club from Cologne: Fortuna are in tenth place with 11 points out of nine games. Fortuna's most recent win was 4-1 at home against 1. FFC Recklinghausen, courtesy of substitute Alica Linden, who scored three goals in the second half. Away, however, coach Guido Kalle's team have been less successful: in the last four away games, the team did manage to score goals, but only managed to win any points on Matchday 1 against SSV Rhade in a 2-2 draw.

BVB coach Högner is pleased to be able to “have everybody available” against an “established team from the Regionalliga with experienced players”. Without any ill players, the Black & Yellows will compete in Rote Erde Stadium in full force. On Thursday, the team trained in an 11-a-side game format in rainy weather and under difficult pitch conditions.
