Caden Clark returns to Major League Soccer after a brief stint abroad with RB Leipzig, signing a two-year contract with Minnesota United.
The midfielder will join the Western Conference side at the start of the league's Primary Transfer Window in January 2024, and remain with Danish side Vendsyssel FF on loan until December 31, 2023.
"Caden Clark is a talented, young footballer who is excited to be joining our club. We feel we've now brought in and developed a core group of young players that will leave us in good stead and help set the standard for the club over next few years," said MNUFC Head Coach Adrian Heath.
"He's a Minnesota kid, which is another big plus for us, he's coming home. We know what he is capable of and we've seen his talent here in Major League Soccer. We are really thrilled to get him beginning next season and I know our fans will be excited as well."
Clark kicked off his career with the New York Red Bulls in 2020, recording six goals and five assists in 31 appearances before going on to join RB Leipzig. But the player saw no time with the Bundesliga team, inspiring loan spells with the New York Red Bulls, New York Red Bulls 2 and Vendsyssel FF.
While with the Red Bulls 2, Clark recorded 17 USL appearances and four goals. He’ll now return to his Minnesota roots, after featuring for the Minnesota Thunder Academy from 2015 to 2017.
MNUFC currently sit in seventh place of the Western Conference table with 36 points in 26 games and a record of 9W-8L-9D. Despite a turbulent start to the season, Heath’s side looks on track to make the 2023 playoffs.
