CAF Champions League Group C: MC Alger revive qualification hopes after defeating Lupopo
MC Alger earned their first victory in CAF Champions League group stage with 2-0 home win over Saint Eloi Lupopo on Sunday.
Algerian side MC Alger recorded their first win of the group stage in CAF Champions League after defeating Congo’s Saint Eloi Lupopo 2-0 on Sunday in matchday 4 of Group C.
The match played in Algeria, with the home team delivering strong second half performance to secure three important point in the race for qualification.
After tight first half, MC Alger broke the deadlock in the 53 minute through Marwane Khelif who gave the hosts deserved lead.
The Algerian club then confirmed the victory late in the match when Zakaria Naidji scored the second goal in the 82 minute sealing comfortable result and lifting the pressure on the team’s group campaign.
With the win, MC Alger moved to four point climbing into third place in Group C on goal difference, level with Saint Eloi Lupopo.

MC Alger now face two decisive fixtures in February:
The team is coached by South African manager Rulani Mokwena who previously led Sundowns and won the African League title with the club.
In Group D, Tunisia’s Esperance drew 2-2 with Tanzania’s Simba while in Group A, Egyptian leaders Pyramids FC strengthened their position with 3-0 win over Morocco’s RS Berkane.
