CAF Cup: It's tough for Florent Ibenge and Azam FC

Nothing is going according to plan for Florent Ibenge in the CAF Confederation Cup. His team, Azam FC, have now suffered a second consecutive defeat in the group stage, this time at home against Wydad Casablanca (0-1).

After losing on matchday one to AS Maniema (2-0), Azam FC hoped to bounce back in front of their home fans. But the Tanzanians once again lacked cutting edge and ultimately fell to Wydad thanks to a decisive goal that cost them more crucial points.

With zero points from two matches, Ibenge's side is already under pressure. The club, which also features Congolese player Jephté Kitambala, must absolutely respond if they want to stay in contention in this highly competitive group.

Ibenge under scrutiny

Renowned for his strong track record on the African stage, Florent Ibenge now needs to find answers to get Azam FC back on track. His start to the campaign is at odds with his experience and previous successes, making the upcoming fixtures all the more crucial. Azam FC cannot afford any more slip-ups if they want to reignite their Confederation Cup hopes.
