Cagliari defender Nadir Zortea has admitted that playing at San Siro will provide extra energy for him and his team-mates when they take on AC Milan.
Sergio Conceicao will lead his Milan side out in a home game for the first time just days after he won a trophy after just two games in charge. The Rossoneri will display the Supercoppa Italiana trophy, the 50th in the club’s history, after beating Juventus in the semi-final and Inter in the final.
However, the celebrations will stop as soon as the whistle blows because there is a job to do. Milan know this all too well given that they drew 3-3 with Cagliari immediately after the 3-1 win over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Therefore, focus will have to be at a maximum and Conceicao has stressed this further by altering the pre-match routine, making the squad sleep at Milanello the night before the game.
Zortea was a guest on the show ‘Il Cagliari in Diretta’ and the full-back previewed tomorrow night’s match at San Siro, with his comments relayed by MilanPress.
“Playing at San Siro gives you energy, something different, it’s the best stadium in Italy. Our recent results have helped us, but when you go there you have energy regardless. We can’t wait,” he said.
“The team is full of top-level players, it’s a stimulus. I have this obsession with Theo and it’s stimulating. I can’t wait to run with him and see who’s faster. He has characteristics that I like, I’ve studied him a lot and I’ve tried to steal some things from him.”
