Hakan Calhanoglu and Tammy Abraham will miss the respective midweek Champions League bouts, but their physical problems aren’t too concerning. They will both be close calls for the next Serie A round.
Inter announced that the Turk pulled his left adductor and was day-to-day. He won’t be an option versus Young Boys and will be questionable for the Juventus clash, Gianluca Di Marzio reported. Kristjan Asllani is unlikely to be available Wednesday, while Piotr Zielinski could make it. The former is nursing a knee contusion, the latter a thigh issue. There’s more worry about Francesco Acerbi, who will take the tests in the next 48 hours.
Similarly to Calhanoglu, Abraham won’t be an option in the cup, but he escaped without fractures or other significant shoulder injuries. Coach Paulo Fonseca left the door open for his return against Bologna a few days later. The Portuguese gaffer actually announced the XI for the Club Brugge tilt: Maignan; Emerson, Gabbia, Tomori, Hernandez; Fofana, Reijnders; Pulisic, Loftus-Cheek, Leao; Morata.
Therefore, Gabbia is returning after missing the previous match due to a calf ailment, while Rafael Leao will quickly work his way back into the starting formation.
In other injury news, Juventus will welcome back Weston McKennie for the Stuttgart clash. He wasn’t an option versus Lazio due to muscle fatigue. Instead, Nico Gonzalez and Teun Koopmeiners will stay on the mend due to a thigh strain and a rib fracture respectively. Per La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Dutch maestro is iffy for the Derby d’Italia because he’d be at risk of suffering lung damage with another blow in the same area.
