Alejandro Garnacho is edging closer to a permanent Manchester United exit, with ‘numerous clubs’ in the mix for his signature.

It’ll come as no surprise to any fan to learn that the youngster is on his way out. What they are pondering, however, is where he’ll end up after five years in M16.

United’s Europa League final defeat last month marked Garnacho’s last-ever appearance as a Red, and it came in the form of a 19-minute cameo off the bench as the side were trailing 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao.

Post-match, his reaction to the media — which saw him brazenly label United’s season as ‘sh*t’and rue Ruben Amorim’s decision to omit him from the starting XI — all but set in stone that he’d be offloaded by INEOS when the window opened.

Garnacho’s sale will generate pure profit for the club, making it no surprise that they’ve set their valuation at a whopping £70 million to sanction his exit. In the winter, United rebuffed a £45m proposal from Napoli, who then opted against returning with an improved bid.

It’s thought the Serie A champions retain their interest in the winger, although a move looks highly unlikely given United’s increased demands. Chelsea are also among his suitors but are currently prioritising Borussia Dortmund starlet Jamie Gittens.

The state of play with Garnacho’s future

According to journalist Sam C on X/Twitter, several teams have been ‘looking into deals’ for Garnacho — to the point that United have ‘received calls in recent days’.

He signed from Atletico Madrid’s youth ranks in 2020 for a fee of £420,000 and made his debut at 17 years old in the closing stages of the 2021/2022 campaign against Chelsea. In April 2023, Garnacho put pen to paper on a five-year deal, keeping him tied to Old Trafford until June 2028.
