Callum Elder, a Leicester City academy graduate with three League One promotions, will leave Derby County this summer and become a free agent after starting the season as first-choice left-back.
LeicesterMercury.co.uk reports that the Australian joined City at 16, featured in pre-season and went on six loans, but never made a senior appearance while the club were in the Premier League.
On loan at Wigan in 2017-18, he helped them return to the Championship at the first attempt. After a permanent exit from the King Power in 2019, he went down with Hull, then played almost every game as they won League One and went back up. Released by Hull, he helped Derby win promotion in his debut campaign.
This season he made 28 appearances for play-off hopefuls Derby, scoring once and providing five assists, and was first-choice for the first half of the campaign. Injuries and January arrival Derry Murkin saw him lose his place, and he will now depart Pride Park.
As Leicester look to get out of League One, they may seek a left-back this window. Victor Kristiansen has signalled he is looking to move, which would leave only Luke Thomas as a senior option. Elder, 31, could provide competition and an understanding of the club.
